Today Salamanca is one of the Spanish towns with best preserved historic and artistic patrimony.
It was declared Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO in 1988, and it combines its tradition with the evolution of a modern town that offers all the services and commodities of a town of the 21st century; an example on this can be the new building like the Congress and Exposition Palace, the Center of Scenic Arts and the reform of the hundred-year-old Liceo Theater.
This year, 2002, Salamanca celebrates its title as European Cultural Capital, and it will present us with the best of itself.
